Parenting Healthy
For the majority of pregnant women, and the expecting partner, usually thee number 1 priority is a healthy baby. All around the world, thee most important factor every expectant parent wants is a healthy baby. If you are lucky enough to get that top priority – you have been given the world! Have you planned on Parenting Healthy?
After being given such a beautiful gift, what do you do to take care of it? Is the health of your child a top priority 2 years later, 6 years later and even 15 years later? I hope it is. There is still nothing as important as the health of your child as they grow. When your child is healthy, they get to flourish. As a parent, that is definitely one of thee most gratifying experiences you can have.
Junk food snacks are hugely problematic for many reasons:
First, all junk food snacks are loaded with several man-made ingredients. Because these ingredients are un-natural, they cause your immune system to react. These immune reactions range from: hives, allergies, asthma, headaches, mood changes, hyperactivity, cancers, eczema, and rhinitis.
All junk food snacks provide calories from fats that are not as usable as fats from natural foods, like hummus and nuts. Once again, the body can’t completely utilize these calories, so they end up getting stored into fatty tissue. As levels of stored calories increases, several different hormones also become altered in the body. These changes result in inflammation, appetite changes, brain chemistry changes, added body fat, immune system changes and then on to chronic diseases if junk food is a consistent pattern. As you can see, parenting healthy would not include junk food.
Third, junk food snacks often have a high sugar content that really is not needed by the body. When it’s not needed, it will get stored. Stored calories become fat. It is actually very easy to track the increased usage of sugar in the United States, in both households and in the food industry, with the increase in weight. To the point that we are currently living in an epidemic that has never been experienced before – obesity.
Sugar causes numerous reactions in the body, so that if sugar is a daily habit, these reactions will lead to big health problems. Diabetes is of course related to high sugar intake. The immune system gets suppressed by sugar. Cancers are all fed by sugar.
Fourth, our taste buds are trained. When a person eats junk foods that are not natural foods, that is the taste that becomes most desired. This is because most junk foods are imbued with so many artificial flavors that are exaggerated flavors, they alter the taste buds and these over-the-top tastes of processed foods become the preferred foods.
Your kids are very valuable. Their health is precious. Parenting healthy is very important for their future. I hope their health, the health of you and your entire family is your top priority.

Heart Health Battles Depression
One more Heart Health post because a healthy heart is vital to living a life that you can enjoy.
When I created the heart from vegetables and fruits, it was because our heart physically manifests our lifestyle. The foods we eat have a direct impact on heart health. We have seen this for years from research and from training programs that rehab heart patients after a dramatic heart health problem. Usually, these training programs for heart patients are taken on by the patient because they just had a very scary time in their life when they almost died. This training program is to help them avoid having to be in that situation again. These training programs always make changes in the diets of these people.
But, that doesn’t have to be your experience. We can all learn by that example and choose to not have a heart problem. You can make that choice for yourself. If your diet, your lifestyle, provides you with e wide range of vegetable and fruits and you also exercise, you will most likely not develop a heart problem. There can’t be guarantees, every person is a unique blend of DNA, but eating this healthfully has proven itself when it comes to having a healthy heart.
All of the recipes in Full Body 30 Day Vegan Cleanse supply you with foods that are only beneficial to the health of your heart. Heart Health
February is Heart Health month, it is thee perfect time to consider the health of your heart. Many people take for granted that their heart will be healthy, just as how many people take their health for granted. I have been in the health field for over 20 years, and noticed early into my profession, that for some people, they just assume that their body will keep going and going…like the Energizer Bunny. But, the human body in all its amazing magnificence, does need some help to be the best it can be.
This is where you, putting some thought, some time and action into taking very good care of yourself will make all the difference to your hearts’ health for your life. Your heart is an amazing organ, it has worked for you since you were in your mother’s uterus. And, it has not taken a break at any 1 minute, it works through the night while you sleep. Ask yourself, “What can I do to give back to my heart for all it does for me?”
I’m glad you asked, here is what you can do.
Taking great care of your heart requires two things, Natural foods- lots of vegetables, fruit, nuts and grains. And regular exercise to make the heart muscle strong. That’s it, these 2 components to ensure you a great quality of life. It is definitely worth your time.
A diet filled with daily vegetables and fruits will provide your heart with a range of anti-oxidants. These will continue to clear waste products out from the blood stream, directly helping the heart. A diet filled daily with a variety of vegetables and fruits will also provide your body with lots of fiber. This fiber will have a dramatically positive effect to your heart as it will help to keep the cholesterol and fats low in your blood stream. Once again having a direct effect to your heart.
It’s that easy! Your heart will love you for it!
If you need some help, or some inspiration, it is completely available in Full Body 30 Day Vegan Cleanse. Give it a try and see how much better your life will be.

February is Heart Health Month
The health of your heart encompasses a number of factors. Laughter is one of them. I truly hope you have people in your life that make you laugh daily. It is a proven fact that laughter can contribute to your health, and specifically, to the health of your heart.
Another factor contributing to your heart health is cholesterol and triglycerides. Dealing with the world of fats can be very confusing, this will help you keep it straight.
Cholesterol in your diet comes from foods that are animals or from animals. Plant foods, and grains do not contribute dietary cholesterol. That right there makes how you get cholesterol in foods much easier. Egg yolks, organ meats, and whole dairy products contain the most cholesterol.
Where this gets confusing for some people is the fact their own body also produces cholesterol. Cholesterol is not a bad thing. Which is why our own bodies produce it. Cholesterol is abundant in our nerve tissue and is needed by every cell in our body. Our body’s produce about 80% of the cholesterol found in each individual. Foods supply about 20%. Our genetics determines how much cholesterol our body will make.
Saturated fats also are from animal foods: beef, pork, veal, whole dairy products. Processed foods that contain coconut oil, palm oil, stick margarine, cocoa butter, shortening. These are ingredients often found in baked cookies and cakes, crackers and snacks. Saturated fats are found in all the foods we recommend our patients
don’t eat.
The healthy fats to eat are: Omega 3, monounsaturated fats, and poly-unsaturated fats. Omega 3’s are found in: Fish- salmon, mackerel, herring, sardines, albacore tuna, rainbow trout. Plant sources are walnuts, and flax seeds, which are very good to keep in your diet, though the plant sources provide a little less of the Omega 3’s than the fish sources.
For unsaturated fats the best sources are: plant oils – olive oil , peanut, walnut, and canola; all nuts, peanuts, almonds, walnuts, pistachios; and avocado and olives.
Triglycerides are other fats found in the blood in blood tests. Triglycerides are stored fats. Calories consumed that your body does not readily need for functioning, gets stored as fat and this is basically what triglycerides are. To keep your triglycerides low, eat just the healthy fats discussed, eat the food you need each day without consuming extra calories and exercise.
If you stick with these healthy fats and stay away from the un-healthy fats, and if you get regular physical exercise, your triglyceride and cholesterol levels should be healthy. Majid and I do have herbs to help lower all these unhealthy fats and it is important to consume EFA’s which we do have available at the office. If you have further questions, please feel free to ask us.
Habits, that’s all it Takes
You can have healthy habits! It truly is possible for every person to develop healthy habits. Think about it for 1 minute, what is the difference between you and someone who already has a very healthy lifestyle? It is first the thought process, then it is making the commitment, and thirdly, it’s taking action.
First, of course, has to be the thought. Every person who has healthy habits has spent time thinking about why they want to be healthy. What are your reasons? It is important to know what your reasons are because that will be your motivating factor. That will be the one thing that keeps you grounded in your decision, in your desire.
Once you have discovered the reasons for yourself to create a healthy lifestyle, the next step is making a commitment. Your commitment should be to yourself first. Many people will also make a commitment to another person as well as themselves. Some people may commit with their life partner to have a healthy lifestyle. For many couples, this has many positive effects in building a strong relationship. Some people will make a commitment to create a healthy lifestyle with a friend or even a group of friends. Buddy up with a co-worker. That helps tremendously. You can eat your lunch together. Sometimes peer pressure at work is enough to break great intentions. Their is power and support when you do make a commitment with other people. It will make those relationships stronger and only serve you all well.
The third necessary step in creating healthy habits is taking action! Now that you have mad e a commitment, your action is required to fulfill that commitment. That action is what you buy at the grocery store. What you plan to make for dinner. What you plan to bring for lunch tomorrow at work. This step is much more easily accomplished when you have a plan.
Having a plan is completely taken care of for you in Full Body 30 Day Vegan Cleanse. The entire 30 days is completely set up for you. The feedback from every person who has taken this Cleanse is very positive for how much they enjoyed that they did not have to think. Yum! A favorite snack amongst my family! Loaded with only healthy ingredients.
Most often snacking is thought of as bad. But that is when the processed junk foods are the chosen snack. Snacking is actually a very healthy thing to do in between meals.

If you snack, you will feel much better and you will notice an immediate difference in how your brain is working.

Cancer prevention is something we can all do. Just think of all the friends you know and family members that have had cancer. The life-changing emotional toll as someone you love goes through treatments. Not to mention the enormous cost. That information is not new and it is available on the American Cancer Society webpage.

Citrus fruits have so many benefits that staying healthy with citrus fruits is easy. Once you read all these health advantages you will see why you should have a citrus fruit 5-7 times a week.
Weight Loss and Metabolism
Citrus fruits are so good for helping the body with metabolism. Lemons and grapefruits help to keep insulin levels low, translating to your body utilizing calories instead of storing them. Stored calories become fat. Lemons and grapefruit then also allow your blood sugar levels to remain more constant. Avoiding highs and lows, and not having dips in blood sugar means you will not have sugar cravings. It is through this mechanism of keeping insulin levels low that is the cause for your metabolism being increased. Hence, the very popular Grapefruit diet, that actually started as far back as the 1930’s.
Anti-Inflammatory Effects and Your Heart
There are several phytonutrients in citrus fruits that help reduce inflammation and reduce blood clotting. By reducing inflammation and blood clotting, citrus fruits are very helpful for your heart. Some studies have shown that people who consume higher amounts of citrus fruits have less heart disease and stroke. All of that has to do with reducing inflammation.
Citrus fruits also provide a good dose of fiber, which helps to keep the bad cholesterol down and good cholesterol up. This is also helpful for your heart. Citrus fruits also supply us with, potassium, folate, B6, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, pantothenic acid, riboflavin, thiamine, and niacin. With so many helpful fabulous nutrients – how can you go wrong!!!!
And of course, we all know that citrus fruits give us a whopping dose of Vitamin C. Vitamin C is in constant demand in our bodies. It is needed constantly to scavenge for free-radicals. It is helps reduce inflammation. And Vitamin C is needed to help your body regenerate cartilage, keep your skin elastic and smooth.
Your brain benefits tremendously from citrus fruits. Between all the fiber, anti-inflammatories and phytonutrients your brain is very well protected in the development of Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease and other dementia’s. which all have inflammation is a core component.
Numerous studies have all pointed to anti-cancer benefits from a diet high in citrus fruits. There are a number of the phytonutrients that play a role in this ability. You can see it is a package deal. It is Very apparent that staying healthy with citrus fruits will make a difference to your life!

Happy Healthy Halloween!
Halloween could still be a healthy day!! It is a matter of how you set yourself up. Hopefully you will dress up and have a fun-filled day. But, that day does not have to include eating, or even gorging, on candy. It is in how you mentally set yourself up for this day.
Today make this a healthy Halloween and maybe even the first of a new tradition. Skip the candy completely. Just because you have always had candy on Halloween doesn’t mean it always Has to be that way. Interject with thoughts about what you really want for yourself. Thoughts about how you really want to be healthy and that this could be that first day of a better way of life. Then follow-up on those thoughts by acting accordingly. You can skip the candy. You will actually feel better without it. This is written with adults in mind.
As for kids, they should be able to enjoy Halloween much like we did, with the candy. Then even with your kids, it is a matter of how you set it up for them. Halloween is a day that we can teach kids how to enjoy a celebratory day with balance. Gorging on candy until they feel sick is not teaching balance. Halloween is a great day to let them eat some candy and enjoy a day that is fun because they dressed up in a costume and were given lots of candy. That is a super fun day!! As parents we get to revel in their fun and also teach a little. It’s very easy, just let your kids know that they can eat 3-5 pieces of candy. The best thing you can do as a parent is to tell them why. Tell them that you love them and care about them, and because their health is so important to you, this matters. Not eating lots of candy does make a difference to their health.
There is the healthy message for your kids and for their future Halloweens. This sets them up so that they won’t have to battle years of Halloween gorging and a need to set up new habits around a holiday.
